Mission

The Office for Youth & Young Adults exists to nurture the total personal and spiritual enrichment of our youth and young adults, and to call them to full participation in the life, mission, and work of the faith community as portrayed by Jesus in the Gospels.

Sister Jude Ruggeri, ASCJ, Director

Sister Jude has headed the Diocesan Office for Youth & Young Adult Ministry since 1992.  She brings over 30 years of experience in working with youth to the office.  A St. Louis native, Sister Jude's ministry with the Apostles of the Sacred Heart order has given her lots of adventures, including stints in teaching, coaching, and as an athletic director in Connecticut.

Sister Jude holds a certificate in youth ministry studies from the Center for Ministry Development, and is an advocate of comprehensive youth ministry as detailed in the NCCB-USCC's Renewing the Vision document.

In addition to her duties with the Diocese, Sister Jude also serves as Chairperson of the Board of Directors for the National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry (NFCYM).  The NFCYM serves as the nation’s foremost authority on implementing parish-based youth ministry programs.  Headquartered in Washington, D.C., the NFCYM seeks to meet the ever-changing dynamics of youth culture, and works with dioceses and parishes to help develop ministry that invites youth into the life and mission of the church community.
